I became symptomatic for idiopathic torsional dystonia back in 2001 while working on my Ph.D. at the U of Michigan. Even though dystonia can be a constant, nagging pain, life is beautiful and precious. Since being diagnosed, I have experienced both good & bad. I took up cycling even though I have issues walking. In 2015 I married the love of my life. I have decided not to let dystonia DEFINE me; I want to live life…and defy dystonia.

Aches & pains
My bones have been hurting me. Two or three weeks ago, I stubbed my little toe on the couch leg--after all I am an Ozarker & I do go barefoot year-round in-doors. A bone in my foot has hurt ever since. Also, my left pelvic bone has continually hurt me for the last few days. I don't know why I ache like this. If I'm not better after the holidays, I will make myself an appointment to get it checked out. Now, if I could only get comfortable enough to fall asleep!
